Emily's UnBirthday
Dad isn't quite sure where the term "Unbirthday" came from - only that Mom tosses it around the day before someone's actual birthday. It would appear to be just another reason to celebrate something, as is often the case in Mom's family. If you're a regular reader of the YD Cafe, you know there is typically not just one birthday party for one of the girl's birthdays. No, there's the "Family Birthday" and the "Friend Birthday" and the "Actual Birthday" and the "UnBirthday."
So today is Emily's UnBirthday. She turns 10 years old tomorrow. Hard to believe isn't it? We'll run through a list of her accomplishments tomorrow. But today we'd like you to share your favorite Emily story in the "comments" section.

I will share my favorite Emily story later. But first wanted to say that Alice in Wonderland celebrated with the Mad Hatter a Very Merry Unbirthday at their tea party! And actually, he said that you have but one birthday and 364 unbirthdays. So quit jabbin' at the OB side of the family and be thankful that we don't celebrate as the Mad Hatter does! ;)

My favorite Emily moment happened when she was only a few minutes old. Her favorite Aunt Bridget (not yet dubbed "Dee Dee") was holding the very new baby when Emily peed - all over Bridget's vest and pants.
Love,
Aunt Annabelle

Yeah, thanks, Em. (And Ann, for telling the whole world...)
As you can imagine, I have *lots* of favorite Emily stories ... among them:
• When we picked Emily up at Wee Care Day Care on the day Lauren was born, she looked at me and said, "What are YOU doing here?"
• At Mama's Pizza, we were playing video games with Emily and she shouted out, "Hit the people! Hit the people!"
• There's my "boyfriend" (the mountains) when we were in Colorado
• Playing "Marble" on the computer with Jon

My favorite Emily moments:
- When Emily was playing goalie as a five-year-old (in the 8-and-under league) and drop kicked the soccer ball over everyone - down to the other side of the field.
- When she first got her hair cut and went to the airport to pick someone up (I can't recall who it was). She looked so grown up!
- Not exactly my favorite memory, but when she had surgery on her eye. They gave her medicine to fall asleep while she was playing and after she conked out, we had to hand her over to a nurse, who carried her down to surgery.

Oooo .... oooo! I've got another one.
Emily had to get stitches for some injury or another (this was a couple of years ago), and Dani and I took her to the ER at Children's. After she got them in, they said to watch her because the medicine was making her woozy. She was FUNNY!! I guess you had to be there for it, but trust me, Emily was a riot!

Yes, Dee Dee, she was a riot! In fact, you just made me have "after laughs!"
I liked when we were living with Sean's parents when Lauren was still in the NICU and Emily was "gated" in the media room for a make shift bedroom and after Aunt Dee Dee came home for the night Emily would hang over the gate and say, "Dee Dee, I hunggeee." And good 'ol Bridget would get Emily a bowl of Honeycomb cereal (called Yah, yah, yahs in our house because of the commercial jingle for them when we were kids.)
Last one for now, I absolutely loved when Emily was in Kindergarten and we had a fish named, Gary. When Gary died, we took him out back (the whole family) and had a funeral for Gary. We said a little prayer and asked Emily if she had anything to say. She said she thought we should sing a song for Gary. When asked which song, she started singing, Row, Row, Row Your Boat and some other song she had learned at school. It took everything for Sean and I not to laugh! Not a somber song at all. (Again, probably had to be there!)
