Then It All Came Tumbling Down

Veronica Decorates
Veronica, in happier times, was helping with the decorating.

One of the drawbacks to having a live Christmas tree is that you have to water it.

The Fallen TreeAnother is that live trees can get to be pretty large - and unwieldy - for little tree stands. We learned that lesson last year, when "Wide E" (the name of our tree last year) came tumbling down.

Well, it happened again.

This time, the damage was far more significant. Quite a few ornaments were broken in the fall, including the "Leg Lamp," Lauren's Shriner's ornament and Emily's tea party one. It was a very sad day, as you can imagine.

It's also hard to start all over, putting the ornaments back up. The tree looks a little lopsided and it's not as beautifully decorated (but it still looks great).

Hey buddy, speak for yourself. I think it still looks beautiful! And that photo of Veronica was taken the night of the tree falling incident. She and I were the only ones home to redecorate the tree. Dad took the rest of the girls to the school to abuse the fact that Mom has school keys and they can play in the gym on the weekend nights. :)

P.S. That is "Hot Klock Klit" down the front of Veronica's shirt. Isn't she funny?!?!
