Bad Start Benches Bengals

No, the blog didn't get updated last night. Dad's team had its game at 8 p.m. and it was a late night - and a disappointing one. His team fell behind 12-0 by the end of the first quarter and ended up losing 25-15. The good news is, they'll play in another tournament next week.

Will it happen tonight? Maybe. Dad's team has a basketball game. We'll see...

What A Weekend

The girls saw the Olympic torch being lit (courtesy of TiVo) on Saturday morning.

It was a busy weekend for the YD girls. Friday night, we watched the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. Unfortunately, only Dad managed to stay awake for the entire four hour spectacle. But thanks to "Mr. TiVo," the girls got to enjoy it the following morning.

Dad's basketball team played Saturday morning, winning 29-4, with help from Emily. Then he was off to help at the second annual Omaha Shootout at the Qwest Center. The girls listened to the Maverick hockey team pick up the sweep that night.

Sunday afternoon, Emily's basketball team won its game. Then, she turned around and played on Dad's team a few hours later, helping it win 12-7.

100th Day of School

Lauren sported some unusual head and eyewear for her 100th day of school.

In year's past, Dad would often help his sister-in-law, Mion, in the role of "Zero, The Hero" by dressing up as the mascot of the 100th day of school.

By the way, we're pretty sure that Ben Franklin that Lauren is holding is NOT the real thing.

Burger King Night

Julia (far left) and Olivia enjoyed counter seating, while Veronica (right) found the SpongeBob toy to be rather tasty.

Burger King Night is a monthly treat offered up as a fundraiser by St. Thomas More School. In reality, it's an excuse for the YDs to go out to eat.

Mom was quick to inform Dad that the chicken sandwich he was about to eat was worth 26 points on her diet plan. It sounded harmless enough - until she added that an entire day's point allotment is 21.

Time for Cereal

After more than four-and-a-half months of eating breast milk, Veronica got the go-ahead to try some rice cereal.

The picture on the right is very indicative of how things went. It was more like trying to get her to down some awful-tasting medicine than savoring a delicious-tasting meal. We'll give it another go later this week. But for now, Veronica seems in no rush to start eating food like the rest of us.

Julia's Birthday Night

Julia was all smiles tonight because she was getting to go somewhere none of her sisters would get to - a birthday party.

You might be able to make out the special card she made to accompany the present. She spent a lot of time getting it ready.

And how did it go? "Great," she said. The party took place at the local game gallery, Family Fun Center. And best of all, she was home in time to get to bed at her normal time.

The Tooth Fairy Cometh

It took two nights, but the Tooth Fairy finally made it to our house to pick up one of Lauren's teeth.

The reason she was late? Emily, Julia, Olivia and Dad were all up at different parts of the night. So when the Tooth Fairy stopped by and noticed people weren't in their beds, she skipped our house.

Pictured at left are the things she left behind: a book, a reply to Lauren's note, $1.50 and the Tooth Fairy bear, which was picked up by the Tooth Fairy the following night.
