Lauren's Picture of Dad

Lauren's Picture
Our resident artist drew this tonight.

This is a picture Lauren drew and colored of Dad. The caption reads:

Dad on the computer (as always). Love, Rainman 5/4/7

How sweet!

I don't know if it's sweet ... or disturbing.

Is that the memory you want to be creating for your kids????

Since Sean works from home, of course he would be on the computer most of the time. If he was sitting in a little cubicle, he would be on the computer also but not at home.

What is the problem with having an observant artistic daughter?

No problem at all.

Lauren is an extremely intuitive, gifted artist. I love her artwork.

If she drew one of her mom, it would probably be Dani surrounded by mountains of laundry, washed by Grandma Y-D, folded by Dani, and awaiting put-away by the Y-D girls...

Lauren has been dubbed "Rain Man" because she's quite the little genius. It's a nod to Dustin Hoffman's character in the movie by the same name. In it, he played an autistic genius.

"...is that the memory"

Oh "Anonymous." Just makes me crazy when folks feel strongly enough to say something but are too cowardly to put their names to it.

I had a run-in with an anonymous coward on my blog the other day. Criminey.

Oh well, I think it's great you get to do much of your work from home and that your kids get a sense of what you do for a living. I think it helps them to understand that money just doens't quite magically appear out of that box by the bank.

cheers,
/s

Hey, they already learned that from their Aunt Dee Dee and Uncle Jon (who have been working from home since July 2004). The girls used to visit us at our office (on 72nd & Grover) and now come see us at our home office. (Of course, it used to be their real *home*, and I work in what used to be their dress-up room, so I'm sure it's a little different than at their house... *smile*)

Unlike Sean, however, we have a dedicated space for our "office" -- which is *not* the kitchen table. (We'll be on the right side of the home office deduction if/when the IRS comes calling ... good luck with that one, Sean ...)

The girls (especially Emily, Lauren, and Julia) already have been put to work in our business (running the shredder, helping with mailings, going to the post office). Wonder if Sean will be able to get them to do the same for him ...

And not all of us have "Google/Blogger" accounts...
