Bits and Pieces

Dad doesn't rake leaves anymore - he uses the mower to mulch them. However, that doesn't stop the girls from raking them into a pile so they can jump into them. And that's exactly what they were starting to do last night. Unfortunately, it's going to rain later today, so those leaves won't be so fluffy when the girls come home from school.

Lauren forgot her backpack this morning, but fortunately Grandma YD found it soon enough that Mom was able to turn around and come back for it. What would we do without cell phones?

Veronica just loves playing with Dad's cell phone - which is not good, of course. She has made it all the way to level 2 on his "brickbreaker" game. The downside to this is that it's yet another way to make Dad less productive (the other girls just love to use his laptop to play on their Webkinz.

Speaking of the laptop, Dad uses it every morning to wake up the girls to the theme from "Captain Kangaroo." (You can watch it here.) Of course, Dad and Mom have fond memories of the Captain. In fact, he was the first person Dad ever interviewed in college. Captain Kangaroo made an appearance at Kearney State College in September of 1985 to talk about raising children. Dad's "Advanced Reporting 301" class got to be part of the pre-event press conference in a classroom.
