Olivia's Visit To The Doctor

About this time last month, Olivia began complaining that her stomach hurt. At first, Mom and Dad wrote it off as something viral because she threw up a couple times and a few of her siblings had been sick.

But when the complaining continued into the New Year - so much that Olivia's teacher even relayed news of it - we decided to take her in to get things checked out.

So Tuesday morning, Dad took Olivia to see the doctor. He decided to run a few tests to eliminate some possibilities. So Olivia had her blood drawn - something Dad terribly dislikes. But for Olivia, it was a breeze. She didn't even flinch when the needle went in her arm. But getting a urine sample proved to be much more difficult.

First, she drank water. Then she tried to go. Then she drank more water, followed by coloring a few pages in a coloring book. Followed by another try. Then came the tears and the "I want Mommy" cry. Finally, 45 minutes after the whole process began, the nurse offered Olivia a sucker and some stickers. Shortly thereafter, Olivia delivered.

All the drama of the trip to the doctor caught up to Olivia on the drive to school. She promptly fell asleep. Dad felt horrible having to wake her up to take her inside, but she seemed to bounce back nicely once she saw her classmates.
