Indiana Jones A Hit With Emily, Lauren

Sometimes the best laid plans...

For months, Uncle Jon and Aunt Dee-Dee have been planning to take the girls to see the new "Indiana Jones" movie, premiering May 22. Their intent was to see the midnight screening and invite Emily and Lauren along, since May 22 (Thursday) was their final day of classes.

But what we didn't know was that the movie actually premiered at midnight Wednesday, not Thursday. Since that wasn't realistic - even with the girls only being in class from 8 to 11 a.m. on the final day - Plan B was drawn up.

Dee-Dee picked the girls up immediately after school and rushed them out to Village Pointe, where they met up with Jon and his parents. Dad took Julia and Olivia to Grandma and Grandpa YD's house, much to Julia's protests (more on that later). What was expected to be a sold-out show wound up with a theater that was about 75 percent full. Still, it was quite a show.

Emily and Lauren both admitted to being a little scared, especially when the crystal skull was first revealed. This was exactly as Julia had predicted, and something that had her not so disappointed about going to the premier showing. Emily - seated next to Dad - kept her hands over her ears for a good part of the movie. ("They can tell me about all the scary parts before they happen when I go," Julia said.) But the girls really enjoyed it, particularly the part where Indy survives a nuclear blast.

Now the two girls are hoping to see it again, this time with Mom in tow.
