Weekend Wrap-Up

Veronica takes on sugar water at the doctor's recommendation.
Alternate cutline: Dad takes a surprise picture of a tired Mom.
There's a lot of ground to cover from the weekend. So here goes:
- Lauren & Julia's Soccer Game
- Good news for the team and Lauren, bad news for Julia. By winning 3-1 over St. Gerald on Saturday, the Lions are now 2-2 on the season. Lauren played well. Julia didn't play at all. Instead, she screamed and cried, telling Dad she would not go in. By creating a scene — and having passed on practicing the past four practices — Julia will be "redshirted" and spend the rest of the season in street clothes on the sidelines.
- Lancers' Home Opener
- The four oldest girls accompanied Aunt Dee-Dee and Uncle Jon to the Omaha Lancers hockey team's home opener Saturday night. (Sorry, no pictures to share.) The Lancers won, 3-1, and the girls had a good time eating the tacos dad smuggled in.
- Veronica's Tummy Troubles
- There might be something wrong with Veronica's tummy. At her age, you should have at least one bowel movement a day. That's not happening. But a week's worth did come out — all at once — when Mom stuck a lubed-up thermometer up there Saturday night. (Fortunately, no pictures to share.) Now, Veronica takes on an ounce of sugar water each day to try and "move things along." So far, it's not working.

1 Comments:
You may give [your children] your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
