Halloween Decorations, Storms and Bug Bites

Mom is always telling Dad not to listen to the TV weathercasters. You would think she was the one who spent six years working in a TV newsroom. Because Dad continues to put (a little) faith in the forecast, he was scrambling to get the yard mowed Sunday before church because rain was expected.

No rain fell. All day.

Anyway, that was good news for the girls, who got to put up Halloween decorations in and around the house. (Again, no pictures yet. We need to find our camera.)

The rain did come - several hours after the girls went to bed. Unfortunately, the powerful thunderstorms woke up Olivia and Julia - who scrambled out of their beds at the loudest clap of thunder and ran down the hallway to pile into Mom & Dad's bed. Emily also showed up later, complaining of a sore throat.

The mystery of the night, though, came in the form of bug bites on Mom and Emily's neck shoulder and neck, respectively. We're not quite sure what insect got 'em, but it left a deep, dark red mark that was pretty sizeable and itched a lot. Dad looked up a few bite photos on the Internet, but none resembled the ones Mom and Emily are sporting. (And again, no photos!)
