Ball Games, Room Changes, Rain

A wet weekend put the brakes on any hopes of cleaning out the garage. But it did not stop the girls from cleaning and re-arranging their rooms.

As you can see from the picture, Veronica has officially made the transition to a "big girl bed" after two years and 25 days. We believe this is the longest a YD girl has spent in a crib.

Emily and Lauren re-arranged their room, as did Olivia and Julia. The change helped them get things cleaned up - and even Dad put his clothes away and tried to tidy things up.

Now, about that rain. It started raining Friday night and it's still falling Monday morning. We're experiencing a leaky ceiling in our kitchen again, so Mom tried to catch it in strategically-position bowls. Mom also spent most of Friday night/Saturday morning up with Olivia and Julia. Olivia wasn't feeling well and Julia was scared of the lightning and thunder.

On the athletic front, Emily's volleyball team won a hard-fought match against her old classmates (Emily is pictured with Lynsey, who used to be taller than her) St. Thomas More. The first game went to St. Thomas More while the Spartans took the second game. Heading into the third game, one of Emily's teammates - who has never played in a game or been at a practice that Dad has attended - showed up just seconds before the final game was to begin. Inexplicably, Emily's coach put her into the game. But the girl came through - serving several winners as St. Mary's won the final game.

Later that afternoon, it was on to the Bellevue Lied Center for Emily's first basketball game with the Bellevue Ice team. Emily scored the team's first basket as the Ice won comfortably. The highlight had to be the girl on the other team who was wearing high-heeled sandals.
