Terrible Tuesday

The chicken pox are coming down hard on Lauren, who has been squirming around in bed, trying not to itch the little blisters that cover nearly every inch of her body. She's really doing a good job of not scratching them, though.

Meanwhile, Olivia was at school Tuesday for all of five minutes before Mom called Dad to come and get her. Apparently, her tummy was hurting. So Dad had Veronica, Lauren and Olivia at home. (Aunt Jean watched Veronica for a few hours in the morning.)

Unfortunately, Julia came down with a fever after coming home from school Tuesday, which means she is staying home today. So the line-up at home today is: Veronica, Julia and Lauren. Olivia very nearly stayed home, too, complaining that her stomach hurt (again), but Mom put her foot down and made her go.

Despite all the sickness, we did spend a little bit of time talking about the May 6, 1975 tornado. Mom remembers the neighbor's tree being blown over, uprooting a dead dog that was buried in a trash bag near the tree. Dad remembers listening to the reports of the tornado on the police scanner while huddling in the basement. Scary stuff that today's children (fortunately) have not had to experience.

You can revisit the tornado of '75 here or watch this video recap from KETV:
