Red Skies At Night

House Fire

This is something you never want to see in your neighborhood. Unfortunately, just before midnight Saturday, two engine companies, an aerial truck, a battalion chief and a rescue squad came screaming down the street just two doors from our house.

From what the neighbors are saying, the fire started because of a problem with the chimney. The fire not only filled the house with smoke, but it also spread to parts of the roof. At one point, flames could be seen shooting from the upper part of the two-story home.

Fortunately, the people who live there (and they have only been moved in since early this summer) were able to escape safely. Their preschool-age daughter was being carried across the street, wrapped in a blanket, just a few moments after the fire trucks pulled up. It is nice that our neighborhood is just three blocks away from a fire station.
