Character Day At School
The girls were extended the opportunity to dress up as their favorite book character at school today. As you can imagine, it was quite a decision for some of them. Dad suggested all kinds of characters (The Terminator, One of The Incredibles, Evil Knievel, etc.) but Mom said the person had to be from a book first, not from a movie later published as a book.
So here's what they came up with as their characters:

Olivia (above, left) went as Lily Little (not "the Famous Pornstar and Celebrity" that Dad found while searching for the book character). Lily is one of the characters from "The Littles." Julia (right) went as Lucy Little. According to Wikipedia, The Littles were the title characters of a series of children's novels by American author John Peterson.
As for the two older girls, Emily (below, left) went as Harry Potter's girlfriend, Hermione Granger. Lauren, who was not excited at all about having her picture taken, went as Junie B. Jones (the "B" stands for "Beatrice," by the way). Mom - who was not quite in costume as the pictures were being taken, is portraying "Katy No-Pocket" (again, not the pornstar). According to book publisher Houton Mifflin, "Katy's distress at being a kangaroo with no pouch is quickly remedied by a kindly construction worker."

I dressed as "Harold, The Purple Crayon," only to have Danielle tell me it's Harold AND his purple crayon. I feel like a fool.

Forgive Sean, he knows little about Children's literature unless it has to do with Mike Mulligan and his Steamshovel or B-9 The Metal Eater. Olivia was actually dressed as Lily from the books created by Kevin Henkes. Specifically, she was Lily from the book, Lily's Purple Plastic Purse today. Lily is in no way related to the Littles.
Julia did portray Lucy Little. :)
Lastly, I believe it is Houghton/Mifflin.
I apologize to Sean in advance for making these corrections publicly, but I forgot how to get into the Blog to make the corrections myself with the little pencil thingy! Ooops!

Sean should have been one of the characters from "The Great Brain" series

We vote for Sean as B-9 the Hungry Metal Eater--Ronan & Declan recently got their own copy of this beloved children's classic.

True story:
Danielle got me "B-9" for my birthday a couple years back.
For some reason, the story didn't seem as great as I remember it.
But the title still rocks!
