Another Victory

This was the game that Dad was worried about.
His leading scorer and starting point guard would be out of town at a soccer tournament. His back-up point guard was going to have to leave at halftime for a piano recital. Two of his players had each missed three days of school with illness.
So how would the Spartans respond with only six players? Pretty darn well, actually.
With Emily playing point guard after Rachel left for her piano recital, Dad's team improved to 8-0 with an 11-2 victory. Emily was the team's leading scorer with four points - which included a pair of free throws.
The 11 points are well below the team's offensive average of 23 points a game. However, with back-to-back defensive performances that have limited the opposing team to just a single basket in 24 minutes of play, the team leads the league (by far) with a 7.2 points-per-game defensive average.Dad was not only proud of the girls, but he was also pretty pumped up that Mt. Michael basketball Coach Jim Mayberger stuck around for the first quarter of the game after watching his own daughter play Saturday. Coach Mayberger gave Dad's team the thumbs-up for its defensive play.
As soon as we got home, Lauren drew up a nice picture of the win (pictured at right), since Mom was too busy running the concession stand to take any pictures.
Next up is Holy Ghost next Saturday, followed by a road game at Holy Cross on Sunday. Only four games remain in the regular season.

Paul can appreciate Veronica's open mouthed car snooze because he always makes fun of me when I fall asleep like that in the car! Of course, I think it's adorable.
