Summer Recap: Mom's Birthday
Planning for Mom's birthday began several weeks ago as the girls started counting down to the big day. They got with Dad and told him what they would like to do: bake her a little something, make her some cards and throw her a little party.
So we headed off to the party store (without her) to find some decorations. Once at the store, Lauren said we should look for something elephant-related, because Mom loves elephants.
Meanwhile, the rest of the girls followed Dad's lead and migrated over to the "40th Birthday" section. Dad thought it would be funny to celebrate Mom's 40th birthday a year early. So we grabbed a couple "40th Birthday" banners and streamers and a special "birthday cane" and asked Lauren if she found anything elephant-related (no).
When we got home, it was time to start baking. The girls picked out two things to make: a popcorn birthday cake and monster cookies. Emily supervised the baking portion of the day, with help from Lauren, Julia and Olivia.
When Mom got home, the girls made her close her eyes before she walked into the dining room to see the treats and her presents (watch the video below). We also pulled a fast one on her with some trick candles on the cake, which the girls thought was hilarious.

Sean, you're not supposed to age women more than they actually are, especially your wife. Be nice next year on her actual 40th birthday.
