Fun At Oak View Mall
Lauren (left) and Julia topped two of the structures.
If you're old enough to remember Richman Gordman stores, you might remember the little play area they offered children - or as a respite for their parents. (Dad particularly recalls the blue elephant that doubled as a slide.)Oak View Mall has something similar. This play area features sports-themed structures to climb in, on or around. Monday night, while we awaited Mom's arrival, the girls ran, jumped, crawled and climbed. Veronica (pictured above, climbing out of a helmet) even made a few friends. (Not really, but the girls thought some of the little folk were smiling at her.)
After a stop into the Disney store that is going out of business (in five days, no less), we capped the night off with a stop at Dairy Queen (great idea, Mom!). Unfortunately, we had to run out of the mall and into DQ in the middle of a pounding thunderstorm. But Emily had an umbrella, so we stayed dry for the most part.
Omaha Tornado Update:
The preliminary damage map is out for Sunday's early-morning tornado. As we mentioned in a previous post, Mom and the girls drove around, looking for signs and evidence of damage. This map that was just released would have been helpful:

Apparently, there were actually two tornadoes that touched down. Eventually, they merged (weird) and that's where the damage path became a little wider.
