What A Mess
From WOWT.com:Omaha traffic was snarled along Interstate 80 early Tuesday afternoon after several large pieces of concrete fell from a dump truck into the westbound lanes between 60th and 72nd streets.
It appeared that at least two nearby cars had been damaged in the incident.
Nebraska Department of Roads crews were called in to clean up. The interstate was down to two lanes in the affected area.
St. Christopher was looking out for Dad and his Kia Spectra today. This incident happened right in front of him as he was entering I-80 from 42nd Street. Unfortunately, more than two cars were damaged (those were probably the only ones the WOWT citycam could see). Huge chunks of concrete flew out of the back of the truck.
The truck kept going as Dad talked to 911 dispatchers. Eventually - after it had dropped another large load near 65th & I-80 - the truck was boxed in by a few drivers and forced off to the center shoulder.
Moral of the story:
Drive defensively and make sure you have a St. Christopher medal in your vehicle.
