Rip Van Veronica

Veronica slept for 12 straight hours Thursday.

The youngest YD girl has had her internal clock a little mixed up lately. When her sisters are all tucked away in their beds, Veronica is up marching around the house, pestering Mom (who stays up even later) to "turn on Barney."

Part of the problem has to do with Veronica taking late-day naps. She frequently falls asleep when Mom is driving her to school to pick up the girls (about 3 p.m.) But yesterday, Mom didn't take her to pick up the girls. Instead, she stayed home with Dad.

And boy did she have fun while Dad was trying to work. She opened puzzles, put lotion on doorknobs, cut up paper, erased all the important things on Dad's dry-erase board and got her shirt soaking wet. She also watched Barney, The Wiggles, Shrek and some video about dogs. What she did not do was sleep. That is, until Mom and the girls came home.

About a minute before they walked through the door (at 5:50 p.m.), she conked out. And save for a 4 a.m. wake-up for a diaper change, she slept to 6:30 this morning. Wow.

By the way, it felt almost tropical out this morning as the girls headed off to school. It was only 15 degrees, though. But compared to yesterday's -8 reading on the thermometer, it was MUCH warmer.

That's one way to get back on track. I know that Brett used to do that sometimes (fall asleep at the dinner table around 5, then sleep til 6 in the morning). Sometimes it's just a nice break too.
