Emily And Dad's Team Wins Again

The undefeated season continued for Emily and Dad's basketball team following the Spartans' 28-14 win over Holy Ghost Saturday morning.

Emily played well, rebounding and helping run the offense. (She also scored a basket.)

The win was particularly satisfying because the team's leading scorer (averaging nine points a game) was out of town. The 28 points was the Spartans' best offensive showing of the year and eight of 10 girls scored.

Dad was particularly proud of the defense the team played. Through the first 21 minutes, the 1-3-1 "Knight" defense yielded only 10 points. The last four came on two baskets in the final three minutes.

Next week's game against St. Philip Neri promises to be a challenge. The first time the two teams met, 22 fouls were called and two girls on St. Philip Neri's team fouled out. The game was also the lowest-scoring fifth grade girls game in the last four seasons. Final score: 8-5.
