Down, But Not Out
So Dad and Emily's basketball team didn't win Thursday night. But it wasn't for a lack of trying - or fan support.
Tons of relatives showed up: Grandma and Papa YD, Aunt Jean, Tante Frans, Uncle Neil... And they all cheered loudly as the Spartans held tough through the first half - trailing by only three points at the break.
Unfortunately, one of the referees (and Dad never complains about the officiating) has some kind of problem with one of Dad's players, Laura. In the two other games he has officiated, he has called either four or five fouls on her. Thursday night, it was four fouls. When she exited early in the second half with her fourth foul, St. Mary's didn't score again the rest of the quarter. The result was a 9-0 run for St. Bernadette, on the way to a 27-16 win over Dad and Emily's team.
So tonight, Dad and Emily will be back at it. This time, it's another game against Sts. Peter & Paul. If the Spartans win that one, they'll play St. Bernadette again on Sunday for the championship. Double elimination tournaments are nice, except when you have to keep playing the same teams over and over.

I hope you won on Friday. If you did dye Laura's hair for Sunday just in case you have the same ref:)
We are off to Beatrice for a tournament for Jackie. They lost 2players so we are down to 7.
