Popcorn, Ponies and Shrieks of Terror

So Saturday was supposed to be a yard-mowing day (and it can certainly use a trim), but the mower wasn't running well and it looked like rain. So Dad packed up the girls and headed over to Canfield's, a sporting goods and outdoors store that was having an anniversary celebration in its parking lot.
Aunt Dee-Dee was helping coordinate a BBQ event that was part of the celebration, so we pressed her into action to run interference on a clown that had Julia shrieking like crazy. As it turned out, Emily wasn't so keen (initially) to getting out of the Suburban, either. So initially, just Lauren, Veronica and Olivia got to enjoy the free popcorn and cotton candy.
Once Veronica was able to try out the airplanes and join the other two girls in the bounce house, Emily and Julia finally got out of the car and watched Veronica take part in the pony ride. But none of the other girls wanted to ride the ponies. Dad is guessing that Mom would have coaxed them into doing it, but he wasn't in the mood to argue with them over the missed opportunity.

How generous of you to spend 12 hours with your daughters on Saturday.
It is too bad that we don't see your wife Danielle in those photos. I hope she was having a good time....doing whatever it was she was doing on that damp May day.
You are very fortunate to have five daughters. There are many couples who are unable to have kids -- and the blessing that they bring into your lives.
We all need to take a moment and remember that through any of our selfish endeavors in life that all we truly have, in the end, is our family.
Someday, when you are old and rickety, and your kids are grown, you are going to take pride in the fact that you took your kids needs, and placed them before your own needs.

Sean,
Where was your wife during the fun time that the girls had at Canfields?
You are a good dad.

Okay, what is this? Make a derrogatory comment towards Danielle and then not have the guts to sign your name to it?!? Get a clue.

Dana,
Maybe you should get a clue and mind
your own business.
Get off the computer and go take care of your kids.
Sis

I don't know anyone named Sis. I'm assuming Sis means Sean's sister, so maybe Bridget?
My kids are tucked nicely into bed and I have some free time so I'm on the computer. I'm allowed that aren't I?
I'm trying to mind my business but when I see hurtful things being said by anonymous people in a public forum, that's when I have to say something.
If you want to hash this out privately, let me know and I'll give you my email (or get it from Sean, he has it).

Dana,
I am not Sean's sister. Everyone calls me Sis and knows who I am.
Please try harder to mind your own business. You have no idea what goes on in Omaha, Nebraska.
I suggest that you get off this blog and keep an eye on your own
spouse. Your comments show your
ignorance.
Sis

I don't know who Sis is, but I have a Blogger account, and it clearly lists my name. I am also Sean's "Sis" however. "Twin sis" to be more appropriate.
Some people don't have blogger accounts though, so they post anonymously. I don't have a problem with that.
I didn't think that the comment about wondering where Dani is while Sean had the kids was derogatory. Perhaps you're being oversensitive? I think it's great that Sean is such a hands-on Dad. It gives Dani some time for herself, which I'm sure she's using wisely, as the school year is coming to an end shortly.
If you think the comments on here are too much, you obviously don't read many blogs. I suggest you read the comments on the Media Watch blog (linked to on this site) and see how brutally honest (and mean) some people truly can be. It can be kind of funny, actually. The truth can hurt!
I have some other good photos from the Canfield's event that I'll work to get up on my blog soon ... and a great story about a Shriner's clown named Huey. Right, Julia??

Look at the faces of those girls. They deserve the parents that brought them into this world, not outside interlopers who seek to destroy the fiber that makes family's successful.
Our lives aren't about our own needs. Anyone who has lived understands that. You raise kids with the idea that the needs of others, and working for the greater good, are truly fulfilling pursuits in life.
We spend way too much time in society believing the crap that Oprah and Dr. Phil spout. I tell you all this, pop psychology never solved any problems.
Furthermore, anyone who seeks to tear apart the nuclear family destroys the very fabric of our society. Any participant in that devious goal -- no matter how reluctant -- will be ripped down by forces beyond their control.
Karma states that what goes around comes around. If you choose to live a life of deception and lies, it will forever dominate your destiny.
When you see a happy family like the one on this site, you see what makes the world go around.
I pray that these girls will grow up to be contented adults, who understand that needs of the flesh are no more noble than an animal that kills for its dinner.
Be strong young ladies. A wise person once wrote: "The sins of the mother shall be visited upon the daughters."
As we celebrate holidays like Mother's Day, we must be reminded that our actions influence how our children ultimately turn out.
