Notes Heading Into The Weekend

Well, it's already Friday and the week seems to have flown by. A big weekend looms, too. Here's the latest:

Julia on the drumsJulia has been making a lot of noise lately, and it doesn't have anything to do with those drums you see in the picture (from our party to watch the UNO hockey game on ESPNU a few weeks back). She is being downright rowdy at all the wrong times. We have asked her time and time again to use her "indoor voice" and to stop bullying her sisters. It hasn't worked. So privileges are going away. The first consequence of acting up Thursday night was losing her opportunity to attend a classmate's birthday party at a local hotel water park. Next to go will be her privilege of sitting on the bench for Dad's basketball games as the team's student manager.

Dad finally seems to have his job situation nailed down. For the 2008 season, he will be assisting the Rock Racing pro cycling team with public relations (through Team Elevation, a Los Angeles-based advertising agency) and serving as communications director for Team Type 1, another pro cycling team. Should be an interesting season, for sure.

Emily and Dad's basketball team have a game Saturday against Holy Ghost. Though the opponent's record isn't impressive, Emily's team will be without its starting point guard (she'll be out of town). This will make for a tough game and puts the Spartans' undefeated record in jeopardy.

There's no Maverick hockey game this weekend, as UNO is in Alaska for a pair of games. Lauren is having a sleepover guest, though, so that will keep us busy. She is already doing some extensive planning for her ninth birthday party, coming up Feb. 19. She has decided to go with a Webkinz theme.
